The Economy: Our economy is struggling under out of control spending, oppressive taxation, and excessive regulation driven by corporate and special interests that have taken over Washington. We need to encourage entrepreneurship and small business, and we must stop giving out government favors and corporate welfare to the politically connected.
As an entrepreneur, I know how difficult it is to start and grow a small business. Satisfying your customer is hard enough -- you shouldn't also have to work for the federal government, and the federal government shouldn't help your competitors.
The best way we can encourage real economic growth is to stop corporate welfare, and stop providing unfair and false "economies of scale" to the politically connected through complicated tax codes and regulations . Our tax codes are so complicated that large corporations game the system at the expense of small and family businesses. Today, most "regulations " are actually written by lobbyists representing the industries supposedly being regulated. Talk about the fox guarding the henhouse!
As your Congressman, I will work to make our country a great place to start and grow a business:
- Stop corporate welfare and pork-barrel spending though the Enumerated Powers Act, One Subject at a Time Act, and Read the Bills Act
- Stop unelected bureaucrats and lobbyists from writing our laws and regulations through the Write the Laws Act
- Stop taxing income and productivity. We need to answer a new question: "How can we meet the needs of government while making America a 'tax haven', and great place to start and grow a business?"
- Repeal Sarbanes-Oxley. This misguided legislation burdens small companies and has caused job-creating investment to flee overseas.
- Support a Balanced Budget Amendment and end deficit spending
A free economy will create more owners who are empowered to build businesses at every level of society. From the new electrician to the new college graduate, there are countless ways to create value and earn an honest living in a free economy. We don't need to just "get a job", or run begging to a bankrupt federal government for help. We can create jobs, and businesses, too. Read more here.
