Reduce Federal Regulations
At every turn our Congressman David Price votes with Nancy Pelosi to increase the federal regulatory burden on American businesses and thus American jobs. This amounts to a legal stranglehold on the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness - the American Dream.
- David Price voted FOR Cap-and-Trade
“Reducing the risk of climate change would come at some cost to the economy. For example, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) concludes that the cap-and trade provisions of H.R. 2454, the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 (ACESA), if implemented, would reduce gross domestic product (GDP) below what it would otherwise have been—by roughly ¼ percent to ¾ percent in 2020 and by between 1 percent and 3½ percent in 2050.” – CBO Report on House Cap-and-Trade legislation, September, 2009
- David Price voted FOR NAFTA and Permanent Normal Trade Relations (PNTR) with China
- David Price voted FOR HR 2749, the Orwellian “Food Safety Act of 2009”, that serves the industrial agricultural complex while hurting local producers and American consumers.
Dr. Lawson on Regulatory Burden
Congressman Price has voted to sacrifice our jobs and sovereignty with destructive trade agreements – including with Communist China – while also voting to regulate local manufacturers out of the United States. In a state like North Carolina – with unemployment topping 11% and a manufacturing base long ravaged by bad regulatory and trade structures – these votes are unconscionable. The last straw should be his willingness to cast a vote that the CBO flatly states will reduce the United States GDP by 3 ½ percent.
David Price consistently votes in favor of Washington lobbyists, and against local businesses. His so-called "Food Safety Act" demands that American food producers submit to expensive annual federal registration, record-keeping, and inspection requirements. The largest food producers can afford to pass the costs for this legislation on to us, and absorb the compliance requirements into their existing bureaucracies. Smaller local and regional food producers, however, are being regulated to economic extinction. Most importantly, this legislation does nothing to address the root causes of food contamination – it simply increases the barriers for local food producers to serve their own communities.
TOWARDS AN OPTIMISTIC FUTURE:
As your Congressman, I will reject global taxation schemes like cap-and-trade or the "carbon tax". I will advocate policies that protect private property, encourage competition to promote a free market, and reduce barriers to entry for entrepreneurs.
Additionally, I will demand that any trading partner of the United States adhere to the same principles before being afforded trade protections with our nation. It is simply irresponsible to continue regulating every business off our shores.
New businesses and jobs are not created by Washington. They are created by hardworking Americans with a desire to offer products and services that meet their customers' needs. It's time to get back to work, and stop punishing American productivity.
